About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead mechanical design and serve as project manager for building systems projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Develop and review construction documents, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements (e.g., ASHRAE, local building codes).
- Manage project scope, schedule, and budgets for assigned projects.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for select projects, building and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Coordinate and manage multi-disciplinary design teams, including internal civil, structural, and electrical staff.
- Oversee construction administration activities, including submittal review, responses to RFIs, and site visits.
- Lead and participate in internal and external project meetings, maintaining clear communication with clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Support proposal development, level-of-effort estimating, and project planning.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical development within the mechanical team.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design for building systems (HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for MEP design.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, fire protection, and applicable building codes and ASHRAE standards.
- Experience managing projects through design and construction phases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and project teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with BIM coordination tools preferred.
- **Ability to travel to job sites in CT, MA, and RI.**
