About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan, design and execute environmental projects, including Phase I and Phase II site assessments to brownfield redevelopment and regulatory compliance and permitting.
- Develop new clients and maintain clients by establishing a personal working relationship with key decision makers.
- Oversee projects using resources to accurately invoice clients and stay within scope and budget.
- Maintain project schedule and meet deliverable deadlines for clients.
- Prepare client contracts, statements of qualifications and fee proposals.
- Communicate ideas and concepts to co-workers and clients on sensitive and complex matters.
- Act as a client liaison by understanding client needs and applying innovative thinking.
- Conduct site visits and complete fieldwork as needed.
- Perform quality control for projects and clients.
- Develop and maintain a high-level understanding of environmental markets, clients, and technology trends.
- Attend meetings, community and industry events.
- Follow and research industry trends and share that information.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Biology, Ecology or Physical Science with an emphasis in environmental engineering or a related degree.
- Seven or more years of environmental or project management experience, preferably at a professional consulting firm.
- Proven track record of managing multiple clients and projects at once.
- Knowledge of state regulatory agency guidance including Illinois Leaking Underground Storage Tank and Site Remediation Programs.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
- Project Management certification.
- Professional Geologist License in the state of IL.
- Highly motivated self-starter.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software and tools.
- Willingness to travel to client sites and firm locations.
