About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage and deliver analysis, design, and preparation of MOT phasing strategies, signing, striping, and traffic control plan sheets for transportation projects, including phased construction, detours, and temporary traffic control.
- Serve as technical lead on mid- to large-scale traffic design assignments, ensuring quality control and compliance with MUTCD, AASHTO, DOT, and applicable agency standards.
- Prepare and oversee the development of studies, technical reports, construction plans, specifications, and estimates from concept through final delivery.
- Coordinate with clients, public agencies, project stakeholders, and multidisciplinary internal teams to deliver successful transportation projects.
- Manage staff assignments, workloads, mentoring, and resource coordination across traffic and related disciplines.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university
- Professional Engineering (PE) license required
- 8+ years of professional experience in traffic with a focus on signing and MOT
- Design-Build and alternative delivery experience preferred
- Proficiency with MicroStation OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, SignCAD, or other applicable software common to the field of transportation engineering
- Hands-on experience with Synchro/SimTraffic, Vistro, and Vissim preferred
- Experience in roadway design is preferred
- Experience and relationships with DOT agencies are highly preferred
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet schedules and budgets, and maintain positive client relationships.
- Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff with design and project delivery
- A desire to grow personally and professionally with each project while working in a team environment to create designs and drawings supporting our client’s overall project goals
