About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the product line reporting function for the Life business
  • Oversee quarterly financial reporting and the close process across IFRS, U.S. GAAP, and capital reporting frameworks
  • Deliver timely and accurate financial results and management reporting
  • Identify and communicate financial performance drivers, trends, risks, and emerging issues
  • Partner with Actuarial, FP&A, Capital Management, Investments, business units, and other Finance teams
  • Provide Finance leadership and subject matter expertise for business initiatives, accounting and reporting changes, and enterprise priorities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals
  • Establish priorities, allocate resources, and maintain execution across reporting requirements and strategic initiatives
  • Maintain financial reporting processes and controls as SOX process owner
  • Oversee evaluation and resolution of reporting errors and control deficiencies
  • Drive continuous improvement in reporting, analytics, data, and processes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience
  • 12 years of accounting/finance experience, including eight years of management experience
  • Extensive knowledge of the assigned business area, such as investments, premiums, or corporate finance
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to diverse audiences
  • Organizational and prioritization skills
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office, Excel, and financial business systems
  • CPA and/or advanced degree preferred
  • Experience within the life insurance or financial services industry preferred
  • Experience with insurance financial reporting, including IFRS and/or U.S. GAAP preferred
  • Experience partnering with actuarial and finance functions to analyze financial results and capital performance preferred
