About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain and monitor the cost accounting system, ensuring accurate tracking of all direct and indirect costs related to product manufacturing and installation, including raw materials, labor, overhead, and installation expenses
- Perform regular inventory valuation and reconciliation, coordinating with the Supply Chain and Operations teams to ensure inventory records in NetSuite are complete and accurate
- Analyze manufacturing overhead costs and assist in the development and maintenance of overhead allocation calculations
- Assist in month-end close activities, including preparation of cost-related journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain, Operations and NetSuite teams to ensure accurate job costing and project cost tracking for product installations
- Prepare and distribute regular cost reports and dashboards to support management decision-making
- Assist in annual budgeting and forecasting processes as they relate to cost of goods sold and operational expenses
- Support internal and external audits by maintaining well-organized and accurate cost accounting records
Requirements
What you’ll need- 2–5+ years of relative accounting experience
- Solid understanding of cost accounting principles, including inventory costing, and overhead allocation
- Experience using ERP systems for cost and inventory accounting
- NetSuite experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- CPA or CMA certification, or progress toward certification, is a plus
- Experience in a manufacturing or inventory-based environment
- Working knowledge of month-end close procedures, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Experience with job costing and project-based cost tracking
- Ability to analyze cost variances and communicate findings clearly to non-accounting stakeholders
- Experience collaborating with operations, supply chain, and engineering teams
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling
