Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the modernization of a mission-critical enterprise tolling transaction platform.
  • Develop, optimize, and modernize SQL Server components within a high-availability Azure infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to deliver scalable, high-performance database solutions.
  • Design, optimize, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server solutions hosted on Azure Virtual Machines.
  • Support high-availability SQL Server environments utilizing Always On Availability Groups.
  • Develop database migration scripts and assist with database modernization initiatives.
  • Contribute SQL-related code changes through Azure DevOps and GitHub CI/CD pipelines.
  • Work closely with architects, cloud engineers, developers, testers, and project stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Maintain business-critical SQL Server environments supporting enterprise tolling operations.
  • Troubleshoot database performance issues and provide ongoing production support as needed.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Develop enterprise SQL Server solutions supporting a high-availability Azure environment.
  • Optimize database performance through advanced T-SQL development and tuning techniques.
  • Modernize existing SQL components while maintaining legacy database functionality.
  • Support Agile software development initiatives within a microservices modernization program.
  • Collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Maintain secure, scalable, and reliable database solutions supporting mission-critical applications.
  • Minimum of 10 years of overall IT experience.
  • 7 years of SQL Server development experience in enterprise environments.
  • 5 years of advanced T-SQL development experience, including query tuning and performance optimization.
  • 5 years of experience developing in SQL Server on Azure environments.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience supporting high-availability architectures using Always On Availability Groups.
  • 5 years of experience modernizing database code and schemas, including legacy SQL support.
  • 5 years of experience collaborating with .NET Core/C# development teams.
  • 5 years of experience deploying SQL updates through Azure DevOps and GitHub CI/CD pipelines.
  • 5 years of experience working effectively within Agile/Scrum teams.
  • 5 years of experience modernizing SQL workloads in cloud-hosted environments.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • Must physically reside within the United States for the duration of the assignment.
  • Only local candidates will be considered.
  • Must successfully complete both phone and in-person interviews.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • - 5 years of experience building ETL solutions using SSIS and Databricks.
  • - 5 years of knowledge of PCI compliance and database security requirements.
  • - 3 years of experience with Terraform or infrastructure-as-code supporting SQL deployments.
  • - 5 years of experience working with microservices architectures and domain-driven design.
  • - 5 years of knowledge of scaling strategies for high-transaction SQL environments.

  • Assignment Duration: Approximately 11 months
  • Hybrid work arrangement.
