About the role
- Apply academic knowledge while working alongside Professional Engineers and Technicians on transportation infrastructure projects
- Observe and collect traffic data
- Complete intersection evaluations and corridor studies
- Conduct analyses using simulation and modeling software
- Assist with preparing preliminary designs and developing construction plans for traffic signals, construction staging, maintenance of traffic, and signing/striping
- Participate in TKDA's structured internship program (software trainings, networking, mentorship, social events, learning seminars)
- Primarily work from office or assigned project site with possible flexible/hybrid arrangements
- Work schedule: approximately 40 hours per week with occasional overtime during the summer 2026 period
Requirements
- Undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an interest in traffic or transportation engineering
- Strong interpersonal skills; Ability to work in a team environment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Availability to work 40 hours per week with occasional overtime from mid-May through mid-August 2026
- Upon acceptance of a conditional offer: completion of pre-employment background screening (Social Security verification, educational verification, review of criminal convictions, and driving history)
- Preferred: Previous coursework or project assignments related to transportation or traffic
- Preferred: Previous experience or formal training with AutoCAD and/or Microstation
