About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and implement AI-integrated backend systems, including LLM-powered agents, RAG pipelines, tool orchestration frameworks, and insurance automation workflows.
- Own technical decisions from architecture through production, addressing not only the happy path but also observability, failure handling, data quality, scalability, and performance under real-world load.
- Actively participate in product design by identifying technical risks early, proposing pragmatic solutions, and understanding the business rationale behind every feature.
- Use AI tools effectively and critically throughout the development lifecycle, including code reviews, design documentation, test generation, and debugging, while maintaining full accountability for the resulting output.
- Maintain strong engineering practices in a fast-moving environment through structured pull requests, design documentation, test strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and meaningful code reviews.
- Build lean solutions first, then iterate and scale. Avoid overengineering and evolve the architecture as product requirements mature.
- Mentor team members and help raise the overall technical standard through knowledge sharing, code reviews, and leading by example.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong background in Java, including Spring Boot, microservices, cloud-native architectures, and both RESTful and event-driven systems.
- Hands-on experience building production-grade AI solutions, including LLM integrations, agentic frameworks (e.g., LangChain4j, Spring AI), RAG pipelines, and prompt management.
- Deep understanding of agentic system design, including tool usage, memory management strategies, multi-step reasoning, reliability patterns, and prompt versioning.
- Proven experience working in complex, rapidly evolving domains; experience in insurance, fintech, or healthcare is considered a strong advantage.
- Practical experience with modern software development practices, including Git workflows, TDD/BDD where appropriate, CI/CD, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- **Nice to Have**
- Proficiency in Python for rapid AI prototyping, experimentation, and data pipeline development alongside a core Java stack.
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools, including distributed tracing, structured logging, and LLM cost and latency monitoring.
- Familiarity with insurance data models, policy administration systems, claims platforms, or regulatory compliance frameworks
