About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist in the design of roadway infrastructure including alignments, grading, drainage, and traffic control
- Prepare engineering drawings, reports, specifications, and cost estimates
- Support senior engineers in meeting project goals and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal standards
- Assist with drainage modeling, traffic control planning, and design documentation
- Perform site visits to collect field data and support construction activities
- Use CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation) to prepare and revise design plans
- Help review contractor submittals, RFIs, and support construction administration tasks
- Coordinate with internal teams, municipalities, and regulatory agencies during design and permitting
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Passed your FE Exam and obtained your EIT certification, or planning to within the next 6 months
- Strong interest in roadway and transportation design
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation
- Basic knowledge of AASHTO, MUTCD, or state DOT standards
- Effective communication and organizational skills
- Willingness to learn, collaborate, and take initiative in a team environment
