About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Pre-register and schedule moderately complex procedures
- Coordinate multiple resources for patient services
- Schedule patient appointments for designated areas according to Tidelands Health protocols
- Provide courteous, professional and efficient service to patients and providers
- Complete patient registration accurately, including collection of co-payments and demographic information
- Ensure patients have the information needed to arrive on time and prepared for procedures
- Ensure the hospital has information required to bill properly for services
- Receive procedure scheduling requests from physician offices and patients
- Schedule procedures according to department availability
- Provide accurate appointment information so departments can view and print daily schedules
- Maintain communication with hospital departments regarding schedule changes
- Perform administrative support duties
- Open, sort and distribute mail and correspondence as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least two (2) years of related customer-facing experience, preferably in healthcare
- Ability to interact successfully with the public
- Ability to perform effectively despite sudden deadlines and changing priorities
- Ability to maintain composure in high-stress situations
- Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, visitors and clinical staff
- High degree of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to use initiative and judgment and identify, analyze and solve problems
- Call center, patient scheduling and/or physician front-office experience preferred
- Basic medical terminology knowledge preferred
- Ability to stand, sit and walk frequently
- Ability to use hands and fingers and talk or hear frequently
- Ability to exert up to 15 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 5 pounds frequently
