About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • The Maintenance Planner supports mining operations by planning and scheduling short- to medium-term maintenance for mobile and/or fixed plant equipment, infrastructure, and facilities.
  • Working in alignment with OEM specifications, the role focuses on improving equipment availability, reducing unplanned downtime, and ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and within budget.
  • In this role you will work 80% from home and travel to various client sites 20% of the time.
  • Develop weekly agreed maintenance plans using equipment strategies to facilitate maximum production and minimize downtime and costs to meet plant availability and reliability targets
  • Align other maintenance activities such as defects and breakdown repairs with periodic maintenance and provide updates on a weekly basis.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 5 years’ planning experience in fixed or mobile equipment planning
  • Minimum of 5 years' of SAP software experience
  • Expertise in set-up of ERP systems
  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems within fixed plant or mobile assets
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in fixed plant equipment maintenance – crushing, material handling, mill/processing- or mobile maintenance equipment (haul trucks, excavators, drillers, support equipment)
  • Surface mining experience preferred
  • Expertise in predictive and preventative maintenance techniques
  • Experience with resource allocation and optimizing maintenance workforce efficiency
  • Familiar with Office 365, including strong Excel skills and MS Project skills
  • Use of Cat SIS and other OEM parts manuals
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment while being self-motivated and proactive
  • Ability to analyze equipment and processing performance data to identify trends and improvement areas
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Valid US Driver’s License
  • Authorization to work lawfully in the USA without sponsorship from Thiess
  • Must be fluent in the English language.
