About the role
- Leading the creation and refinement of character concepts, designs, and models.
- Overseeing and providing guidance to the Character Art Team.
- Collaborating with Directors, Animators, and Engineers for character design integration.
- Implementing efficient workflows and processes to streamline character creation pipelines.
- Addressing technical challenges and optimizing character assets for performance.
- Providing mentorship and support to junior artists.
- Actively participating in feedback sessions and critiques to refine designs.
- Staying abreast of industry trends and best practices in character design.
Requirements
- Experience as a Character Lead/Director on a shipped AAA game project is mandatory.
- Highly experienced in Unreal Engine 5 and familiar with the associated character pipelines and metahuman creation.
- A deep understanding of the game development process and art disciplines.
- Strong understanding of art fundamentals, multiple art styles, anatomy, appeal.
- Experience designing characters of a wide variety and broad appeal.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in character art creation for games.
- Bachelor's degree in Art, Animation, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
