About the role

  • Leading the creation and refinement of character concepts, designs, and models.
  • Overseeing and providing guidance to the Character Art Team.
  • Collaborating with Directors, Animators, and Engineers for character design integration.
  • Implementing efficient workflows and processes to streamline character creation pipelines.
  • Addressing technical challenges and optimizing character assets for performance.
  • Providing mentorship and support to junior artists.
  • Actively participating in feedback sessions and critiques to refine designs.
  • Staying abreast of industry trends and best practices in character design.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Character Lead/Director on a shipped AAA game project is mandatory.
  • Highly experienced in Unreal Engine 5 and familiar with the associated character pipelines and metahuman creation.
  • A deep understanding of the game development process and art disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of art fundamentals, multiple art styles, anatomy, appeal.
  • Experience designing characters of a wide variety and broad appeal.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in character art creation for games.
  • Bachelor's degree in Art, Animation, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
