About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • The Events and Development Officer is responsible for managing events and development operations to meet annual fundraising goals.
  • Working closely with the Chief Development Officer, implement fundraising initiatives and contribute to planning and decision-making.
  • Manage and execute fundraising events, maintaining accurate development systems, including donor database operations (Salesforce).
  • Coordinate the production and distribution of fundraising appeals and printed assets.
  • Support corporate and foundation partnerships by securing sponsorships, developing grant proposals, preparing reports, and participating in funder site visits.
  • Collaborate with the Development Team to prioritize potential donors for engagement.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience, including planning and executing fundraising events.
  • Experience using a donor CRM.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and meet required deadlines.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, sense of humor, flexibility, and desire to work collaboratively.
  • Experience and comfort with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Candidates should exhibit a deep understanding of the importance of diversity and inclusion and their role in contributing to a workplace that is welcoming to all.
  • A strong commitment to The Second Step's mission and values.
  • CORI (Criminal Offender Record Inquiry) check following the first interview.
  • Reliable car/transportation as role requires ability to travel to events and meetings. Mileage and parking costs are reimbursed per organizational policy.
