About the role
- Assist the Director of Prevention Education in outreach to assigned industries, businesses, schools, and community organizations to increase prevention education engagement and visibility.
- Serve as an initial point of contact for assigned partners, providing information about The Second Step’s prevention education offerings and responding to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Support relationship-building with new and existing partners through follow-up communication, scheduling, and coordination.
- Help identify new outreach opportunities aligned with program goals and community needs.
- Manage and maintain the prevention education calendar, including scheduling workshops, coordinating facilitators, and tracking engagements.
- Prepare for trainings and workshops by coordinating logistics, confirming locations or virtual platforms, and ensuring materials are ready.
- Maintain inventory of prevention education materials; track usage and submit requests for re-ordering as needed.
- Assist with data tracking and basic reporting related to outreach efforts, workshop delivery, and program growth.
- Facilitate prevention education workshops for a variety of audiences, including adults, youth, professionals, and community members.
- Deliver curriculum in a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and engaging manner.
- Adapt facilitation style to meet the needs of diverse audiences while maintaining fidelity to approved curricula.
- Support evaluation efforts by collecting participant feedback and reflecting on facilitation effectiveness.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Prevention Education and other staff to support department goals and initiatives.
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
- Represent The Second Step professionally at community events, meetings, and outreach activities.
- Other duties as assigned by agency leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, education, communications, or a related field, or equivalent lived/professional experience.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Comfort with public speaking and facilitating group discussions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to social justice, violence prevention, and survivor-centered, trauma-informed approaches.
- A strong commitment to The Second Step’s mission and values
- CORI (Criminal Offender Record Inquiry) check following the first interview
- SORI (Sexual Offender Record Inquiry) check following the first interview
- Ability to travel within Massachusetts; valid driver’s license preferred.
- Experience working in domestic violence, sexual assault, public health, education, or related prevention fields. (Preferred)
- Previous outreach, community engagement, or partnership-building experience. (Preferred)
- Experience facilitating workshops or trainings with diverse audiences. (Preferred)
- Bilingual or multilingual skills. (Preferred)
