About the role
- Grow, lead, and work within the Vehicle Design and Integration team reporting to the Director of Hardware Engineering
- Drive autonomous vehicle architecture decisions, cross-functional systems design, and integrated systems testing
- Direct vehicle-level projects through planning, design, and testing phases
- Manage engineers performing vehicle design, system trades, and system-level bench and aircraft testing
- Own projects as an individual contributor when needed
- Support design and testing of primary flight control hardware, data acquisition systems, hardware-in-the-loop testing, ground station development, and HMI/software integration
- Guide schedule and sequencing of large integration projects and prioritize aircraft functions for integration and testing
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in science or engineering or equivalent industry experience
- 8+ Years of industry experience designing, integrating, and testing electromechanical systems
- Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals
- Experience applying system design fundamentals
- Experience reading electrical wiring schematics
- Experience testing systems for proper performance
- Experience managing project tasks, milestones, schedules, and execution
- Strong interpersonal skills and an interest in people management
- Experience designing a system architecture and weighing design options to accomplish specific system requirements
- Experience performing vehicle safety assessments, risk assessments, and contingency management
- Ability to design, build, and operate test stands and equipment
- Excellent measurement, technical writing, and data analysis skills
- Eagerness to both teach and learn
- Ability to work both independently and as a leader of a high performing team
- Must be willing to travel up to 10% of the time
- Must provide documentation establishing status as a U.S. person or non-U.S. person; access to export-controlled technology may require U.S. person status
