About the role

  • Take ownership of end-to-end delivery of The Drum’s US-based awards, conferences, retreats and client events — including planning, logistics, production, and on-site execution.
  • Lead the planning and execution of large-scale, multi-day conferences, managing complex programs, speaker logistics, content schedules, production run sheets, and attendee journeys.
  • Develop strong relationships with local venues, suppliers, and production partners, ensuring all events meet The Drum’s creative and operational standards.
  • Manage event timelines and budgets, to ensure smooth and financially successful delivery.
  • Work closely with the UK events team on planning, creative direction, and alignment with The Drum’s global awards and festival calendar.
  • Support international activations, such as Cannes Lions, Advertising Week, and SXSW, coordinating on-site brand experiences and content sessions.
  • Contribute to global post-event reporting, sharing insights and recommendations to continuously improve performance.
  • Collaborate with commercial, marketing, and partnerships teams to deliver sponsor and client activations, ensuring all contractual elements are fulfilled.
  • Support ticket sales, entry drives, and audience engagement initiatives for US awards.
  • Help to identify opportunities to grow The Drum’s events business in the US through new partnerships or formats.
  • Contribute to shaping The Drum’s US event strategy in collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Bring creative ideas to elevate the attendee experience and strengthen The Drum’s positioning in the US market.
  • Champion best practice, consistency, and innovation across the event portfolio.
  • Act as a local brand ambassador for The Drum, helping to raise awareness and build relationships across the US marketing, advertising, and media industries.
  • Work with colleagues across marketing, content, video, and design to deliver cohesive, high-quality event experiences.
  • While US-based, work as an integrated member of The Drum’s global events team, supporting the UK events team remotely / in person during key delivery periods and major events.
  • Communicate effectively across time zones, ensuring alignment with the UK events team and seamless handovers between markets.
  • Travel to other US cities (and if required internationally) to manage and deliver events.
  • Represent The Drum at key industry events and activations, building relationships with agencies, brands, and sponsors.

Requirements

  • 3–4+ years’ experience in event organisation, with a strong focus on large-scale conferences, and additional experience delivering awards, and branded client events across in-person and digital formats.
  • A proven track record of delivering successful events that meet commercial and audience goals, with a strong commercial mindset.
  • Demonstrated experience owning events end-to-end, rather than supporting delivery, with accountability for outcomes, budgets, and on-site success.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills, able to manage multiple complex projects under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Creative and strategic thinker who brings fresh ideas for event development, content, and audience engagement.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, changing environment — adaptable, solutions-oriented, and able to respond quickly to new opportunities.
  • Confident working autonomously while staying connected to a global team headquartered in the UK.
  • Culturally aware and collaborative, able to work effectively with international colleagues and clients.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with experience managing or supporting sponsor deliverables or branded activations.
  • Personable, approachable, and professional, with strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Resilient under pressure, with excellent problem-solving and prioritisation skills.
  • Committed to delivering outstanding customer service and memorable guest experiences.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues in a collaborative, team-first environment.
  • Comfortable using project management and communication tools such as Asana, Slack, and Salesforce (training can be provided).
  • Willingness to travel across the US and internationally as required.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English, with excellent grammar and attention to detail.
