About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Taking on interim or project assignments in finance & accounting for mid-sized German companies up to international publicly listed groups
  • Functional responsibility as well as independent preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements under HGB & IFRS
  • Managing ongoing financial accounting and supporting monthly, quarterly and annual closings under HGB & IFRS
  • Recording and documenting existing processes in finance & accounting
  • Optimizing processes in accounting, month-end and year-end closings
  • Leading and onboarding staff in finance and accounting departments
  • Analyzing, reconciling and preparing financial data for management reports
  • Acting as an interface between accounting, controlling, tax advisors and auditors
  • Independent client support on site or in a hybrid model
  • Supporting digitization and ERP projects (e.g., SAP, DATEV, Business Central, etc.)
  • Contributing to the development of internal standards and best practices in interim accounting

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experienced, certified Bilanzbuchhalter (balance-sheet accountant) (HGB or, alternatively, IFRS) or degree in economics with a focus on accounting, tax law or auditing
  • Several years of experience in accounting, ideally within larger finance departments or advisory environments in Germany-based companies
  • Hands-on experience with annual financial statements under HGB/IFRS and tax-related topics, especially independent preparation of year-end financials
  • Confident and proficient use of ERP and accounting systems such as SAP, MS Business Central, DATEV, NetSuite, Lexware, Sage or Addison
  • Experience in process optimization within finance & accounting departments
  • Professional experience in consulting, auditing or tax firms is desirable
  • Independent, structured and precise working style with a high level of personal responsibility
  • Professional demeanor and advisory mindset; enjoyment of direct client contact
  • Class B driving license for assignments requiring on-site presence
  • Fluent German
  • Good English skills required for international projects
