Approve plans for approach, rendezvous, dock/undock, and departure of visiting vehicles to the ISS based on orbital and vehicle dynamics
Review and maintain understanding of the visiting vehicle GNC and RPO system requirements and their appropriate verification methods
Perform GNC/RPO systems analyses to verify compatibility of the visiting vehicle with their defined functional and performance requirements for the mission
Identify and participate in the resolution of GNC/RPO performance related issues and approve the developed solution of these issues
Demonstrate expertise in analyzing system performance for visiting spacecraft to their unique GNC/RPO algorithms and simulation models
Review and revise GNC and RPO specifics of NASA Interface Requirements Document (IRD)
Maintain relationships with a diverse technical teams, including personnel from engineering, safety, flight operations, crew office, and providers
Organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
Utilize ISS documentation databases and SharePoint sites
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (minimum for Project Engineer)
6+ years’ experience in GNC, Rendezvous and Proximity operations and Docking and Berthing operations (Project Engineer minimum)
Experience with spacecraft navigation topics, such as estimation theory, covariance analysis, orbital propagation and perturbation, relative navigation, rendezvous and proximity operations, collision avoidance, formation flight, or space situational awareness
Knowledge of space flight certification processes to ensure performance and safety requirements are met
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government
U.S. citizenship is required
For Sr. Project Engineer: 10+ years’ experience in GNC, Rendezvous and Proximity operations and Docking and Berthing operations
For Sr. Project Engineer: Experience with space flight certification processes
It would be impressive: Graduate degree in a relevant STEM field
It would be impressive: Knowledge of various current visiting vehicles allowed to dock/berth with the ISS (e.g. SpaceX Crew and Cargo and Cygnus)
It would be impressive: Experience working with/on the ISS program within GNC or trajectory areas
It would be impressive: Understanding of the ISS management, operations, and problem resolution processes
