Key responsibilities & impact

Build a next-generation stack for resilient, decentralized peer-to-peer search
Develop truly peer-to-peer architecture without a centralized index
Enable self-organizing, unstoppable search engines for text, pictures, chats, locations, and other data
Research and build distributed search technologies
Write high-performance, highly concurrent networking code
Test, evaluate, and optimize network protocols
Contribute to search engine architecture, indexing, and ranking systems

Requirements

What you’ll need

Passion for peer-to-peer technology
Interest in research with a bias for building
Deep understanding of some combination of Kademlia DHT
Knowledge of distributed indexing and relevant research literature, including skip graphs, prefix hash trees, m-LIGHT, and locality-sensitive hashing
Experience with distributed databases and CRDTs
Knowledge of peer-to-peer networking, including TCP/IP, transport-layer connection orientation and reliability models, multiplexing, NAT traversal, and encryption
Knowledge of classical information retrieval and search engine architecture, including recall versus precision, ranking algorithms, lexical versus semantic search, and inverted indices
Experience with network protocol testing, evaluation, and optimization
Ability to write high-performance, highly concurrent networking code
Familiarity with the Holepunch stack: hyperdht, hyperswarm, hypercore, hyperbee, hyperdrive, and udx-native
Excellent English communication skills
