About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and implement geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring programs (e.g., piezometers, inclinometers, settlement systems, remote monitoring platforms).
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams across multiple offices to plan, design, and implement instrumentation programs on complex projects.
  • Support large, geographically distributed projects by integrating data, field observations, and engineering analysis into cohesive project deliverables.
  • Contribute to a team-oriented environment that emphasizes knowledge sharing, consistency, and technical excellence across Terracon’s national network.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and technical reports documenting monitoring results and project performance.
  • Evaluate instrumentation data trends to identify potential risks and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Develop scopes of work, proposals, and cost estimates for instrumentation services.
  • Track project progress, budgets, and schedules; recommend adjustments as needed.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Geological, or related Engineering field.
  • 5–8+ years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, with emphasis on instrumentation and monitoring preferred.
  • Experience with instrumentation systems such as vibrating wire piezometers, inclinometers, settlement monitoring, data loggers, and remote monitoring platforms.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration or ability to obtain.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
