About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead development and deployment of physical AI capabilities for autonomous mobile robots and industrial robotic arms
  • Advance obstacle detection, object identification and classification, pose estimation, SLAM, and precision localization systems
  • Engineer solutions using simulation and data generation platforms

  • Take AI innovations from concept through production deployment and ongoing customer support
  • Collaborate with R&D teams at Universal Robots and Mobile Industrial Robots
  • Analyze model performance, quality metrics, limitations, and training-run regressions
  • Rigorously validate AI capabilities and boundaries for customer-facing robotics solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Deep understanding of sensor technologies including RGBD, LiDAR, and ToF
  • Experience shipping AI-powered products to market and supporting them in production customer environments
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals
  • Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into existing robotics software stacks
  • Expertise in data science and data engineering
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams building complete systems
  • Demonstrated ability to rigorously evaluate ML model performance and establish meaningful metrics
  • Experience tracking model quality across training iterations
  • Experience utilizing simulation environments for engineering and validation workflows
  • Knowledge of obstacle detection, object identification and classification, and pose estimation
  • Knowledge of various SLAM approaches and their trade-offs
  • Knowledge of localization techniques from precision to relative positioning
  • Experience with robotic manipulators and mobile platforms
  • Hands-on experience with NVIDIA Isaac platform and tools
  • Background working with AMRs or industrial robotic arms in production settings
  • Knowledge of and interest in Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models and their application to robotics
  • Contributions to robotics or AI research communities
  • Some travel required
