About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop and test Appian BPM applications - building process models, user interfaces, rules and integrations that meet client requirements and Appian best practice standards
  • Work closely with business analysts, technical leads and clients to understand requirements and translate them into robust, scalable Appian solutions
  • Support integration work between Appian and other enterprise systems, using REST, SOAP and other API patterns
  • Contribute to data migration, security compliance and application deployment activities as part of a wider delivery team
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, contribute to code reviews and support knowledge sharing within the team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2-4 years of hands-on Appian development experience - ideally gained in a consulting, professional services or enterprise delivery environment - Appian experience is essential
  • Appian Associate Developer certification (ACD101) as a minimum; Senior Developer certification (ACD201) preferred or actively being pursued
  • Solid understanding of BPM concepts, workflow automation and Appian platform components including process models, SAIL, rules and record types
  • Experience with integrations using REST and SOAP APIs and familiarity with how Appian connects to other enterprise systems
  • Working knowledge of SQL and at least one other relevant language such as Java; comfortable working with data at the application level
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills - able to engage with clients and team members to clarify requirements and work through technical challenges
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methods and comfortable working as part of a structured project team
  • Experience working with New Zealand or Australian government and/or enterprise clients is advantageous
  • Not an Appian developer yet? Candidates with strong hands-on experience in a comparable low-code, no-code or BPM platform - such as Pega, OutSystems, ServiceNow or Microsoft Power Apps - are encouraged to apply. Where Appian experience is limited, we are looking for genuine platform depth, a track record of delivering complex workflow solutions and a clear appetite to cross-train in Appian. Your skills will transfer well; and we can help you build the platform knowledge.
