About the role
- Develop data center layout and infrastructure designs, including electrical, mechanical, and architectural systems.
- Produce and review design documents such as floor plans, equipment layouts, one-line diagrams, and specifications.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external design consultants to manage multidisciplinary design coordination.
- Ensure compliance with local codes, industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE, Uptime, TIA-942), and company design guidelines.
- Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and capacity planning analysis.
- Participate in design reviews, value engineering efforts, and construction oversight to ensure design intent is met.
- Support continuous improvement of data center design templates and standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in engineering design, with at least 2 years in mission-critical/data center projects.
- Proficiency with design software (AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of data center infrastructure systems including power distribution, cooling, and space planning.
- Knowledge of applicable standards such as NEC, ASHRAE, Uptime Tier, and local building codes.
- Excellent technical communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
