About the role

  • Deliver the engineering design, development, and implementation of next generation manufacturing technologies and processes
  • Launch new product at world class quality and cost at pace of customer demand
  • Infuse strong DFM/DFA principles to ensure delivery of robust, efficient and cost-effective designs that are manufacturable at full scale
  • Deliver product designs that align with current manufacturing capabilities
  • Develop new manufacturing processes to support customer driven product innovation as needed
  • Execution of Manufacturing deliverables to the NPD Phase Gate process
  • New process and equipment compliance with TE safety and ergonomic policies
  • DFM/A input into the early stages of product design
  • PFMEA and implementation of high-risk mitigation plans
  • Manufacturing capacity analysis
  • Value stream mapping
  • Assembly tooling and equipment development
  • Process qualification via capability studies
  • Execution of sample builds including generation of first article inspection reports
  • Generation of process specifications
  • Develop and implement new manufacturing technologies and automation appropriately to support customer driven new product innovation

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Optical, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, at least 2 of which is related to fiber optic product
  • Experience with machine, equipment and process design, development, and deployment into a production environment
  • Hands-on problem solver with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge and experience implementing Lean Six Sigma principles preferred
  • Green or Black Belt certification a plus
  • Must be able to effectively operate in remote teams with broad geographic footprints
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to balance priorities while working under the pressure of demanding project schedules
  • Strong written and oral communication skills across all levels of the organization
  • Proficient with 3D CAD software as well as general Microsoft Office applications
