About the role
- Deliver the engineering design, development, and implementation of next generation manufacturing technologies and processes
- Launch new product at world class quality and cost at pace of customer demand
- Infuse strong DFM/DFA principles to ensure delivery of robust, efficient and cost-effective designs that are manufacturable at full scale
- Deliver product designs that align with current manufacturing capabilities
- Develop new manufacturing processes to support customer driven product innovation as needed
- Execution of Manufacturing deliverables to the NPD Phase Gate process
- New process and equipment compliance with TE safety and ergonomic policies
- DFM/A input into the early stages of product design
- PFMEA and implementation of high-risk mitigation plans
- Manufacturing capacity analysis
- Value stream mapping
- Assembly tooling and equipment development
- Process qualification via capability studies
- Execution of sample builds including generation of first article inspection reports
- Generation of process specifications
- Develop and implement new manufacturing technologies and automation appropriately to support customer driven new product innovation
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Optical, or Manufacturing Engineering
- 5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, at least 2 of which is related to fiber optic product
- Experience with machine, equipment and process design, development, and deployment into a production environment
- Hands-on problem solver with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Knowledge and experience implementing Lean Six Sigma principles preferred
- Green or Black Belt certification a plus
- Must be able to effectively operate in remote teams with broad geographic footprints
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to balance priorities while working under the pressure of demanding project schedules
- Strong written and oral communication skills across all levels of the organization
- Proficient with 3D CAD software as well as general Microsoft Office applications
