About the role
- Review, sign, and deliver US expat tax returns across complexity levels, with a focus on specialty areas such as country-specific returns, Form 5471, Form 3520, Form 1120, and others as assigned.
- Continue preparing returns as needed, particularly in niche or specialty areas.
- Maintain consistent formatting, documentation standards, and technical accuracy across all work product.
- Provide clear, constructive review notes that support the development of Associates.
- Draft client-ready delivery messages for the Client Success Manager to work with.
- Coordinate with CSMs, Associates, and Managers to ensure a seamless and on-time delivery flow.
- Handle client debrief calls or follow-up clarifications occasionally.
- Meet on-time delivery expectations in line with workboard assignments and production calendars.
- Offer guidance to Associates through detailed review notes and shared learning moments.
- Share observations with your Manager regarding team member readiness, including promotion-readiness or performance concerns.
- Participate in Reviewer Roundtables and Office Hours.
- Contribute to quality and consistency across pods, even without a formal leadership designation.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in US expat tax preparation and signing.
- Demonstrated experience with international forms including Form 2555, Form 1116, and Form 8833.
- Experience with Form 5471, Form 8865, Form 8858, Form 3520, and Form 8621 is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to review tax returns across varying complexity levels with accuracy and consistency.
- BA in Accounting, Tax or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, clear and professional in both client-facing and internal contexts.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and reliable, with the ability to manage workload independently within a fully remote team structure.
- Willingness to contribute as a team player, support Associates, and coordinate across internal teams.
- Current US CPA license or IRS Enrolled Agent (EA) status is strongly preferred and will be a meaningful factor in our evaluation.
- Prior experience in a reviewing, mentorship, or senior contributor capacity.
- Experience working in a 100% remote, globally distributed team environment.
- A habit of staying current on IRS updates, international tax treaty changes, and evolving expat tax guidance.
