About the role

  • Provide technical support for FAA cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, and hybrid systems
  • Design, implement, and manage cloud-based databases using AWS services such as Amazon RDS (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server), Aurora, DynamoDB, and Redshift
  • Develop and deploy database schema changes and configurations via CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, GitLab CI/CD, CodeBuild, or Jenkins
  • Respond to service desk tickets related to cloud services, networking, and DevOps tools
  • Troubleshoot user access issues, system connectivity problems, and application performance concerns
  • Implement automated backup, snapshot, and recovery procedures using AWS native tools and infrastructure-as-code platforms like Terraform and CloudFormation
  • Optimize database performance, scalability, and availability across cloud and hybrid environments; monitor metrics using CloudWatch, Datadog, or similar tools
  • Engineer secure database connectivity and encryption solutions in compliance with FAA and federal data protection standards
  • Assist with account management, role-based access control (RBAC), and security compliance
  • Document troubleshooting procedures, lessons learned, and standard operating procedures
  • Support system upgrades, migrations (including on-premises to cloud), and deployments under senior staff guidance
  • Integrate database operations into DevSecOps workflows, ensuring version control, testing automation, and continuous delivery
  • Coordinate with FAA teams to ensure reliable and secure operation of cloud resources

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in ANY field (HS diploma + 4 years of relevant experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree)
  • 6-10 years of relevant experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and database engineering
  • Certifications in AWS, Azure, DevOps, or IT security are highly desirable
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance (non-SSBI)
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen at the time of application
