About the role
- Serve as an active member of a service oriented, dynamic, and student centered team
- Coordinate assigned processes in the financial aid area
- Assist the Associate Director with the daily operations in financial aid
- Provide financial counseling for both current and prospective students, as well as their parents, in all areas of educational financing
- Responsible for analysis of financial aid applications by performing reviews utilizing both federal and institutional needs analysis
- Make professional decisions based on established policy (federal, state and institutional)
- Participate in outreach efforts and activities that emphasize Wellesley’s commitment to access, affordability, and financial literacy initiatives
- Responsible for a financial aid reading caseload
- Extensive and timely communication with parents and students, prospective and current, in person, email, and on the telephone
- Stay up to date on trends, regulations and policies in Student Financial Services
- Attend professional development programs as required
- Assist with administration of other office processes, as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree is required
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in higher education and/or one of the areas that comprises Student Financial Services (financial aid, student accounts/tuition payment, student employment, educational financing) or related field
- Strong preference given to demonstrated knowledge of the fundamentals needs analysis (federal and/or institutional)
- Experience with a wide variety of software and database applications, such as PowerFAIDS, Workday, Google, and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently, but to also contribute positively to a team approach.
- Demonstrated experience in providing superior service
