About the role

  • Lead, mentor, and empower multidisciplinary engineering teams focused on Backend and Web development, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability, including the principle to "Make it Happen" culture over "analysis paralysis."
  • Develop and execute strategic plans in alignment with company objectives, driving the technical roadmap forward to ensure the delivery of high-quality products and services.
  • Collaborate closely with product management, design, and other stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize initiatives, and translate business needs into actionable technical solutions.
  • Advocate for and uphold best practices in software engineering, architecture, and quality assurance across all engineering disciplines, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and adherence to industry standards.
  • Oversee resource allocation, budgeting, and staffing decisions for the engineering teams, ensuring optimal utilization of talent and resources to meet project goals and deadlines.
  • Provide guidance and support to engineering teams in solving technical challenges, removing obstacles, and fostering an environment conducive to innovation and professional growth.
  • Serve as a key liaison between engineering and other departments, facilitating communication, resolving conflicts, and promoting a unified vision for product development.
  • Monitor project progress, milestones, and key performance indicators, providing regular updates and insights to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitive landscapes, leveraging insights to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Foster a culture of learning, collaboration, and knowledge sharing within the engineering organization, promoting continuous skill development and career advancement opportunities for team members.

Requirements

  • Extensive Experience in managing cross-functional remote and in-house engineering teams
  • 5+ years of experience in Java/Kotlin or Typescript
  • Good understanding of application architecture
  • Proven Track record of leading software development projects with high scale. (e-commerce experience is preferred)
  • Experience leading a team developing highly available microservices products
  • Experience with DevOps practices
  • Experience with Git and its best practices
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
