About the role
- Design, develop, and maintain database schemas and data structures for PostgreSQL, Redshift, and Vector databases
- Support data pipeline development and ETL processes for high-volume data ingestion
- Implement and maintain data quality checks and validation processes
- Assist with database performance optimization and query tuning
- Support data storage solutions using Amazon S3, Iceberg, and other cloud storage technologies
- Collaborate with development teams on database integration for applications
- Participate in database monitoring, backup, and recovery procedures
- Document database designs, procedures, and data lineage
- Work on cloud-native applications processing high-volume datasets in support of the US Census Bureau 2030 Decennial Census
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- 1-3 years of experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
- Basic knowledge of SQL query development and optimization
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- Understanding of data modeling concepts and database design principles
- Experience with version control systems (Git)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be a U.S. citizen eligible for government background investigation
- Experience with Amazon Redshift, Vector databases, or NoSQL systems (desired)
- Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL concepts (desired)
- Familiarity with Python or other programming languages for data processing (desired)
- Experience with AWS services (S3, Glue, Athena, Kinesis, QuickSight) (desired)
- Understanding of data quality frameworks and testing methodologies (desired)
- Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines (desired)
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and infrastructure as code (Terraform) (desired)
