About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide technical leadership for Java-based payments projects across teams and locations
Define, validate, and socialize technical requirements, architecture, and integration strategies
Mentor and coach engineers, developers, and analysts to elevate technical capabilities
Review architectural documents, BRDs, IA/Gap analyses, and project plans to ensure alignment with strategy and standards
Guide product enhancements in collaboration with product management and business stakeholders
Oversee platform design for performance, security, scalability, and reliability
Lead engineering reviews, testing strategies, and deployment practices
Manage vendor interactions, governance, and risk mitigation related to technology initiatives
Own the quality and delivery of complex projects; manage system and application problems and escalate as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need

10–15 years of experience in software development with a strong focus on Java and payments
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Extensive development and leadership experience in Java and Java EE platforms
Deep understanding of Java ecosystems (Spring, Hibernate, JSF) and enterprise integration patterns
Strong knowledge of payments processing, messaging standards, and card-based transactions
Proficiency in designing and integrating RESTful APIs and payment interfaces
Advanced SQL and data modeling skills for banking/payments data (MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL)
Experience with version control systems (Git) and collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence)
Proficiency with SDLC/Agile methodologies and working with cross-functional teams
Cloud deployment experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP) in banking/payments contexts (preferred)
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation, and release governance (preferred)
Banking/regulatory awareness and data security considerations (preferred)
