About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support design phase and engineer major components for large-scale energy storage projects
- Recognize inconsistencies in engineering drawings, take corrective action, and strive for better design quality and efficiency
- Identify and resolve errors in engineering studies and suggest future solutions
- Prepare technical scopes of work for contracts
- Support projects from inception to completion by working closely with project managers
- Influence project teams on engineering tasks
- Stay updated on project progress and technical issues
- Manage project milestones and recognize risks
- Collaborate with suppliers to integrate major equipment
- Work with diverse teams to solve problems, improve opportunities, and integrate systems and controls
- Understand specifications for major equipment purchasing, ensure clear communication, and propose solutions
- Understand permitting requirements, propose solutions to legal challenges, and recommend site design improvements
- Handle other assigned duties as needed
- Travel 25% of the time for project specific duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must have utility or commercial experience
- Engineering degree
- 3+ Years experience Solar/PV Engineering and/or Construction
- Expertise in one or more of these areas: Power electronics, Battery storage system design, Substation design, Generation tie design
- Familiarity with energy storage technologies, including battery chemistries, power conversion units, and DC/DC converters
- Familiarity with lithium-ion battery storage safety standards (UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC, applicable IFC/IBC sections)
- Familiarity with IEC 61215, 61646, 61730
- Ability to handle specialized technical tasks independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
