Tax Investigations Assistant

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide administrative and technical support to the Tax Investigations team.
- Assist in managing and progressing HMRC enquiries and investigations from start to finish.
- Draft letters and documentation for HMRC and clients under supervision.
- Gather, review and analyse client records and information to support investigation cases.
- Support the preparation of voluntary disclosures and settlement calculations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and internal systems.
- Liaise with clients, HMRC and internal teams in a professional and timely manner.
- Conduct research on tax legislation and HMRC guidance as required.
- Support the wider Tax team with ad-hoc queries and project work.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience working in tax across at least two full tax cycles (corporate, personal, or mixed tax).
- Previous experience in a tax investigations, compliance, or dispute resolution role
- A keen interest in tax and investigations work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- The ability to use your initiative
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
