About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise construction inspection staff on highway and bridge construction projects
  • Review contractor's procedures, materials, and work products for conformance with plans and specifications
  • Assist in directing activities of Construction Inspection staff and advising project staff
  • Maintain a physical presence on the project site(s) to have a personal knowledge of project issues
  • Advise clients on construction activities regarding federal, state, and local environmental rules and regulations
  • Assist in close-out of project documentation, contractor payments, punch list completion, project quantity reconciliation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4-8 years of highway and/or bridge construction inspection experience, preferably with 1-2 years of supervisory experience
  • NICET Level III in Highway Construction preferred
  • Strong combination of ACI/PennDOT Concrete, NECEPT Asphalt, Traffic Control, Guide Rail, Stormwater Management, OSHA Construction Safety and/or other related certifications
  • Strong working experience with PennDOT's and/or the PTC's Construction Documentation Systems, PennDOT's ECMS system, and associated PennDOT i-Pad-based electronic documentation applications
  • Good working level computer skills (MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and pdf software, i.e., Adobe or Blue Beam)
  • Ability to prepare, review and edit written inspection reports on work in progress and completed work, including quantity calculations, materials, methods, and equipment used, and costs
