About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist with GIS and data analysis, prepare and execute queries, and produce maps, spreadsheets, graphs, and other analytical products.
- Develop and manage interactive web maps, dashboards, and data-driven applications using ArcGIS Online and related tools.
- Perform advanced spatial analysis and support data analytics workflows to inform infrastructure planning and decision-making.
- Prepare, collect, organize, and input data to maintain and enhance the company's GIS.
- Assist with interpreting as-built drawings, construction plans, engineering plans, recorded maps, deeds, legal descriptions, imagery, and other source documents, incorporating them into GIS using various methods, including coordinate geometry (COGO), digitizing, and GPS.
- Create and maintain multiple GIS layers, including parcels, streets, right-of-way, floodplain, other development layers, and water and sewer system layers.
- Follow quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) processes, performing routine data management tasks such as validation, correction, queries, and editing to ensure GIS data accuracy, integrity, and completeness.
- Support subject matter experts in regulatory reporting to meet client mapping standards and templates.
- Maintain and update geospatial databases to accurately reflect the location and attributes of utility assets.
- Create, edit, and validate utility maps (water, sewer, electric, telecom) using GIS software to support design, planning, and field operations.
- Incorporate field-collected data (GPS, survey, SUE) and as-built drawings into GIS systems, ensuring alignment with existing records and standards.
- Create custom maps that are cartographically sound, visually engaging, and effectively communicate complex spatial information to diverse audiences.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, GIS&T, Geography, or a closely related field
- 1-3 years of professional GIS experience
- Proficiency with the ESRI suite of GIS software, including ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro
- Strong experience with ArcGIS Online products, including Web AppBuilder, Experience Builder, and Dashboards
- Familiarity with open-source GIS software
- Experience with data visualization and geospatial data analytics
- Strong attention to detail and data integrity, with the ability to perform QA/QC
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
