About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, develop, and implement applications at TRIUMF using functional requirements and design documents
Maintain and enhance applications used by the laboratory, including HR, VISITOR, DOSI, SCIENCE, and Conferences systems
Perform system maintenance and development
Support data transactions and data merges
Provide system support
Perform system upgrades and integrations
Work with senior programmers and use their guidance on requirements and design
Potentially continue for another 4-month term

Requirements

What you’ll need

Undergraduate student enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution in a vocational or professional training program leading to a degree, diploma or certificate
Canadian undergraduate student or Canadian Permanent Resident undergraduate student, or eligible foreign undergraduate student with valid Canadian study permit and Social Insurance Number, or eligible IEC participant
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Initiative and creativity
Ability to work with abstract concepts
Expertise in Java, Python, Node.js, JavaScript, Git/GitLab, Maven, Jira, GlassFish, IDEs, JSF, Spring, Microsoft Azure, DevOps and component libraries
Experience with MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL and MySQL using JDBC and SQL query tools
Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
Basic knowledge of calling OpenAI API and using Power BI and Copilot for Power BI
Basic familiarity with a scientific research environment and physics terminology would assist
