About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own an area of the codebase and its direction, scoping ambiguous problems end-to-end and building for distributed systems and scale
  • Direct parallel agent sessions while focusing on design decisions, reviews, and complex problems
  • Contribute to major technical initiatives including security work, architectural changes, and platform upgrades
  • Build and improve shared AI infrastructure, plugin skills, review loops, and CI loops
  • Apply product thinking by understanding user and commercial problems, challenging ineffective requirements, and contributing to discovery with product and design
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and uphold a high standard of team output
  • Work with technical leaders and Product Designers on technical input, scale, maintainability, and alignment
  • Own features from scoping through deployment and iteration based on learning

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Commercial experience with PHP and Laravel or a similar MVC framework
  • Solid MVC fundamentals and framework concepts
  • Experience with Vue 3, React, Angular, or a similar modern JavaScript framework
  • Production experience with AWS
  • ECS, Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, and RDS advantageous
  • Fluent, default use of AI tooling such as Claude Code, plugins, and skills
  • Ability to design scalable solutions with little to no support
  • Understanding of performance, load, and when optimization is appropriate
  • Product thinking and understanding of what is being built and why
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to influence beyond the immediate team
  • Must be eligible to live and work in the UK
  • Must be able to perform the specified work
