About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

File and litigate cases in federal court in compliance with the FRCP, local rules, and CM/ECF (PACER)
Draft pleadings, motions, and briefs for state and federal court
Conduct case assessments, investigations, and legal research
Propound and respond to discovery; review pertinent documents
Take and defend depositions; attend court appearances
Pre-trial preparation and trial participation
Negotiate settlements and meet all calendar deadlines
Hands-on litigation experience in federal court, from filing through resolution, under the FRCP
Drafting and arguing motions (12(b)(6), summary judgment, motions to compel) and responding to complex federal motions
Managing discovery, including initial disclosures, interrogatories, RFAs/RFPs, ESI, and protective orders
Experience with Rule 26(f) conferences, scheduling reports, and case management conferences
Taking/defending depositions and preparing pretrial documents (witness lists, exhibit lists, motions in limine)
Arguing motions and appearing before federal judges and magistrates; trial experience a strong plus

What you’ll need

Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines with attention to detail
Works efficiently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
Excellent analytical, writing, research, and communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CM/ECF (PACER), and document management software
Familiarity with local rules of at least one California federal district court
CA State Bar, in good standing (required)
Active admission to at least one California federal district court (required)
3–5 years of litigation experience; federal court experience strongly preferred
Lemon Law or consumer protection experience (a plus)
