About the role

  • In collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Team, and other key Stand for Children leaders, ensure the development of strategic annual goals and a carefully developed budget annually to position Stand for significant impact and financial sustainability.
  • Ensure strong service delivery, effective and efficient execution, including appropriate use of technology, and effective collaboration across the organization to meet annual organizational impact and improvement goals while operating within budget and continually increasing cost-efficiency.
  • Ensure strong financial management and compliance, resulting in clean audits, and the effective evaluation of new and existing programs, state and national operations. This includes developing timely and accurate reports, business models, and operational procedures.
  • Coordinate the Executive Team, including the annual development and tracking of focus areas; oversee impact tracking and budget reforecasting, assuring prompt and successful intervention when teams are operationally or financially off track.
  • Serve as a thought partner to the CEO with respect to key organizational development decisions, growth initiatives, business plans, and new ventures.
  • Proactively address any organizational challenges/risks in accordance with the organization’s high standards of operational excellence.
  • Champion staff engagement and development in all facets of the work, uphold and promote alignment with Stand’s values: results, bold independence, empowerment, partnership, being the change we seek, direct and respectful communication, and “welcome, embrace, engage,” Stand’s staff learning and development program.
  • Lead the organization’s board engagement, including but not limited to drafting agendas and facilitating relevant follow-up after monthly meetings with Stand’s Board Chairs, assuring effective agendas and preparatory materials for Board meetings, including drafting the CEO’s memo, coordinating with Board Finance and Audit Committees, preparing staff presenters, and overseeing necessary next steps for effective quarterly Board meetings.
  • Serve with the Controller as the liaisons between Stand’s C3 Board Finance Committee and the organization’s Investment Advisor for its Board Impact Fund; in partnership with the Controller, attend quarterly meetings with the Investment Advisor and ensure compliance with the Fund’s Investment Policy Statement.

Requirements

  • Passionate commitment to Stand for Children’s mission of educational success and social progress.
  • 10+ years of executive-level leadership providing financial and administrative leadership in a high-performing organization.
  • Demonstrated success leading board engagement and providing hands-on operational support to resolve day-to-day challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently operationalize processes and lead organizational change, with a keen sense for achieving sustainable change at scale, especially in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • A proven track record of developing and managing diverse, high-performing, geographically distributed teams.
  • Demonstrated experience with highly confidential information and optimizing CEO and leadership time for mission-critical work.
  • Adept at navigating critical and sensitive issues and ensures alignment across teams and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to, track record of, and measurable impact in the area of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Evidenced analytical skills and technical capability, including expertise with enterprise-wide systems.
  • Strong financial acumen along with academic credentials required, preference for an M.B.A. or a related graduate degree.
  • Demonstrated success in driving organizational performance by fostering a culture of excellence and accountability, understanding team capabilities, and potential.
  • Able to effectively address a wide range of organizational issues with superior attention to detail, proactivity, and follow-through.
  • Proven ability to establish SMART goals, complete key projects on time, and address organizational challenges.
  • Capacity to develop strong relationships with effective communication; a values-driven leader embodying empathy, integrity, and compassion.
  • Proven track record in improving processes and encouraging innovation based on continuous evaluation and learning.
