About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide first level technical support for various SS&C hosted applications
  • Ensure application uptime and service level objectives are met
  • Ensure application job scheduling and server operations work properly
  • Participate in repair and restoration of processing and systems availability during incidents or failures
  • Lead or assist root cause analysis and prevent future recurrences
  • Monitor application availability and performance
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, application, database, and network issues with peers and customers
  • Coordinate and communicate with teams on tasks and escalations using Agile methodologies
  • Participate in 24x7 escalation/rotation support
  • Support new virtual and cloud solutions
  • Follow change management procedures
  • Create and maintain relevant documentation
  • Participate in Disaster Recovery validation scenarios

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Required Monday–Friday hours from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM Eastern Time
  • Occasional weekend morning coverage for maintenance activities
  • Excellent understanding and working knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems
  • Working knowledge of encryption tools such as PGP and GPG
  • Working knowledge of GNU SFTP server configuration and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of scripting technologies and/or willingness to learn
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills
  • Highly dependable and consistently follows through on commitments
  • Positive attitude
  • Professional with excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Interest in cloud computing and passion for technology
  • Desire and ability to learn new things quickly
  • Ability to think on your feet
  • Ability to work as part of an efficient and effective team
  • BS or MS Degree in Computer Science or similar degree
  • Some professional experience or a prior internship
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of VAX VMS Operating Systems is a major plus
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and/or container technologies is a major plus
  • Experience supporting complex internal and client-facing environments is a major plus
  • Experience troubleshooting Microsoft products and protocols is a plus
  • Experience working with enterprise applications is a plus
