About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the main point of contact for claimants and the team of adjusters
- Ensure team performance standards are met and conduct level 1 mentor reviews
- Review and approve claims settlements to ensure they are effective, efficient, and fair
- Support adjusters with operational and technical matters
- Reinforce process, claims, product, and system changes with adjusters
- Review and approve claims payments of $25,000 or less
- Resolve customer complaints
- Review adjuster files monthly to ensure standards are met
- Identify training and mentoring needs through file reviews, team huddles, and one-on-ones
- Deliver guidance and coach staff on claims coverage, conflict resolution, and decision-making
- Maintain training and industry knowledge
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least 5 years of property claims insurance experience
- 1 year of team lead or mentoring of junior adjusters/examiners experience
- A level 2 license in BC and Alberta, or a full adj license in Ontario
- A high school diploma
- Some post-secondary education is preferred
- A CIP designation or actively working towards this designation
- At least 1 year of tenure with a recent employer
- Superior analytical and decision-making skills
- Effective communication when explaining decisions and providing direction
- Active listening and questioning skills
- Ability to handle conflict effectively
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
