About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead adaptive fitness training sessions for individuals or groups while following safety and behavior policies
  • Implement individualized training plans aligned with participants’ Individual Program Plans (IPPs)
  • Monitor and document participant attendance, engagement, and progress
  • Communicate consistently with the Lead Trainer regarding participant goals and performance
  • Assist with community-based fitness activities at approved facilities
  • Maintain professional, confidential, and supportive interactions with participants and their support teams
  • Report Special Incidents or suspected abuse/neglect immediately as required by law
  • Participate in onboarding, including initial consultations, orientation support, and free session delivery as needed
  • Contribute to documentation for goal progress and updates to Individual Service Plans (ISPs)
  • Collaborate with the CEO or assigned Supervisor to align services with program expectations and participant objectives
  • Deliver customized workouts tailored to clients’ unique needs and abilities
  • Inspire, motivate, and empower individuals to achieve fitness and life goals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • NCCA-accredited personal training certification, such as NASM, ACE, ACSM, or ISSA
  • Adaptive Fitness certification or Special Strong Adaptive Training Certification
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification required and must remain current
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors and adapt to diverse physical environments
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Must complete and pass a background check including fingerprint clearance, such as DOJ/FBI Live Scan, before the start date
  • Online portion of the Adaptive Training Certification must be completed before being placed on payroll
  • Ability to work available shifts between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM, Monday through Saturday
  • At least 18 years old
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
