About the role
- SAP administration
- Execute and maintain, not just monitor: Administration of SAP ECC / NetWeaver environments
- Instance management, profiles, parameters (RZ10/RZ11)
- Client creation and maintenance (SCC4, SCCL, SCC9)
- Object transports (STMS, import queues, troubleshooting)
- User and authorization management (SU01, PFCG – at least operational level)
- Applying Support Packages (SPAM / SNOTE)
- SAP Note fixes (SNOTE, prerequisites, post-processing)
- Technical support for SPAU and SPDD (understanding the impact, even if ABAP performs adjustments)
- Environment refreshes (UAT/homologation, QA, sandbox)
- Linux administration (Red Hat)
- Analysis of CPU, memory, filesystem, and I/O usage
- Start/stop SAP, OS vs. SAP troubleshooting
- Database monitoring (DBACOCKPIT)
- Work closely with the database team
- Understand impacts of tablespace growth, locks, and performance
- Practical knowledge of HA/DR (cluster, ASCS, ERS – at least conceptual)
- Integration with: SAProuter, Solution Manager (primarily EWA, SLD, LMDB), external systems (RFC, HTTP, certificates)
- Use of SM37, SM50, SM66, ST22, ST03N, ST04
- Responding to production incidents
- Analysis of dumps, long-running jobs, bottlenecks
- Diagnostic capability, not just "restart the service"
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, or completion of any undergraduate degree accompanied by a postgraduate certificate (specialization, master's or doctorate) in Information Technology of at least 360 hours
- DESIRABLE CERTIFICATION: SAP Certified Technology Associate – System Administration (SAP BASIS)
- Environments: SAP ECC, S/4HANA, BW, SAP Fiori, SAP Solution Manager
- Infrastructure: Windows Server, RedHat/SUSE Linux, AIX
- Databases: HANA, Oracle, DB2
- Tools: SWPM, SUM, SPAM, SAINT, SNOTE, BR*Tools
- Monitoring: ST02, ST06, SM21, ST22, ST03N, SM50, SM66, Solution Manager, Introscope
- Transport management via TMS
- Technical security: SAPRouter, digital certificates, roles and access profiles
