About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive to job sites 50–200+ miles per day
- Use computer utility maps, mapping tools, specialized locating equipment, and other location information to locate underground utilities
- Locate electrical cables, gas lines, telephone lines, communication lines, and other underground utilities
- Mark utility locations with paint and flags
- Communicate findings and relevant information to excavation crews, personnel, or appropriate authorities
- Respond to routine ticket requests, relocations, and emergency calls
- Respond to after-hours emergency call-outs according to the established rotation schedule, if applicable
- Work outdoors and drive daily in a field-based role
Requirements
What you’ll need- Valid driver’s license with NO restrictions
- Comfortable driving long distances daily
- Able to work outdoors in all weather
- Able to walk 4–6 miles daily and lift up to 50 lbs
- Basic computer skills
- Willing to work overtime
- Underground Utility Experience is preferred but not required
- Utility Construction Experience is a preferred but not required
- Outdoor work experience is preferred but not required
- Must have a positive attitude
- Must be able to use a computer
- Valid driver's license in applicable state of employment
- Must be able to work overtime when duties cannot be performed within a normal work schedule
