About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive to job sites 50–200+ miles per day
  • Use computer utility maps, mapping tools, specialized locating equipment, and other location information to locate underground utilities
  • Locate electrical cables, gas lines, telephone lines, communication lines, and other underground utilities
  • Mark utility locations with paint and flags
  • Communicate findings and relevant information to excavation crews, personnel, or appropriate authorities
  • Respond to routine ticket requests, relocations, and emergency calls
  • Respond to after-hours emergency call-outs according to the established rotation schedule, if applicable
  • Work outdoors and drive daily in a field-based role

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Valid driver’s license with NO restrictions
  • Comfortable driving long distances daily
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather
  • Able to walk 4–6 miles daily and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Basic computer skills
  • Willing to work overtime
  • Underground Utility Experience is preferred but not required
  • Utility Construction Experience is a preferred but not required
  • Outdoor work experience is preferred but not required
  • Must have a positive attitude
  • Must be able to use a computer
  • Valid driver's license in applicable state of employment
  • Must be able to work overtime when duties cannot be performed within a normal work schedule
