About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead day-to-day operations of the Southern Cross repair and calibration facility
Manage repair technicians and shipping/receiving staff
Assign and prioritize work orders to maintain throughput and meet turnaround targets
Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and identify training needs
Coordinate staffing coverage and cross-training
Oversee the end-to-end repair workflow, including RMA intake, evaluation and triage, repair and calibration, QC, and outbound shipping
Ensure work follows current SOPs for instrument repair and calibration
Monitor work order status and resolve bottlenecks or quality issues
Ensure calibration certificates and repair documentation are completed accurately and on time
Coordinate warranty repairs under manufacturer agreements
Monitor open repair and warranty work orders in NetSuite
Assist with NetSuite data entry and error resolution
Validate labor, parts, and service entries against physical work performed
Support month-end close by ensuring completed work orders are processed and invoiced
Maintain adequate inventory of repair parts, calibration gas, consumables, and instruments
Conduct cycle counts and reconcile physical inventory to NetSuite records
Identify reorder needs and coordinate purchasing
Minimize obsolete or excess inventory
Prepare operational reports for the VP of Products
Track throughput, turnaround time, warranty claims, inventory status, technician productivity, and other key metrics
Flag capacity constraints, equipment needs, and process gaps
Support reporting for Teledyne GMI warranty invoicing requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need

3+ years of experience in a repair, service, or manufacturing environment
Prior supervisory or lead technician experience
Ability to read and follow technical SOPs and work instructions
Experience with an ERP or work order management system; NetSuite preferred
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a shop-floor environment
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Experience with gas detection instruments or other field measurement equipment preferred
Familiarity with calibration documentation and NIST traceability requirements preferred
Background in shipping/receiving operations, including carrier management and packaging standards preferred
Experience preparing operational reports for management review preferred
Ability to work primarily in a shop/lab environment
May require occasional lifting up to 40 lbs
Availability for additional hours during high-volume periods or month-end close
