About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Program, operate, maintain, repair, and upgrade PLCs, HMIs, and communication network infrastructure
  • Support system integration, PLC hardware, programming, and installation across operational sites
  • Deliver technical assistance and solutions across production sites and supply networks
  • Supervise contractors and external service providers
  • Complete administration associated with reactive and planned maintenance, including business and work management system updates
  • Work according to company policies, procedures, and safe systems of work
  • Complete routine administration such as timesheets, health and safety forms, and vehicle record sheets
  • Monitor and maintain production-site security
  • Back up PLC and HMI software and fieldbus networks
  • Fault-find on PLCs, HMIs, Profibus, and Ethernet communication networks
  • Modify PLC programs and HMI configurations to correct issues and optimise site performance
  • Write PLC programs for site upgrades
  • Participate in a standby rota for incidents outside normal hours and on weekends
  • Travel across the West of England to deliver hands-on support

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong foundation in Industrial Electrical or ICA (Instrumentation, Control, and Automation)
  • Passion for learning and progressing into Operational Technology expertise
  • Knowledge of PLC hardware and programming
  • Experience with Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley, Telemecanique, or Siemens technologies would be useful
  • Technical understanding of Ladder Logic programming
  • Technical understanding of Function Block programming
  • Technical understanding of HMI configuration
  • Technical understanding of fieldbus networks
  • Self-motivated, committed, and highly organised
  • Good communication skills and computer literacy
  • Fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Full driver’s license
  • Some knowledge of water treatment and process would be advantageous but is not essential
  • Legal right to work in the UK when employment begins
  • Ability to pass background, identity, and employment referencing checks
  • Willingness to participate in a standby rota outside normal working hours and on weekends
