About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Participate in a unique, fully remote, stipend-paid editorial training program
  • Explore all aspects of editorial work in a six-week Sandbox environment
  • Receive two weeks of developmental editing mentorship
  • Complete two weeks focused on professional development
  • Gain a broad overview of the day-to-day work of an acquisitions editor
  • Develop key editorial skills through hands-on experience
  • Work directly with the Editorial Team on a live project
  • Participate in scheduled online sessions on Mondays and Fridays
  • Complete flexible offline training hours

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must reside in the United States
  • Available to participate remotely 15–20 hours per week
  • Available for scheduled online hours Monday 9am–12pm CST and Friday 9am–10am CST
  • Able to complete 10–15 flexible offline hours per week
  • Previous publishing experience is not required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of books and the overall book community is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with genre, recent competitive works, marketing copy, and book jacket copy is a strong plus
  • Demonstrable project management and creative skills gained through employment, community engagement, or general life experience
  • Submit a resume and cover letter

  • Access to stable internet capable of supporting Microsoft Teams meetings
