About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Observes and follows all the safety regulations and plant procedures including use of personal protection equipment (PPE) as required to perform job duties safely.
  • Participates in and supports mill’s safety training and safety engagement activities.
  • Use the appropriate tools and software to troubleshoot and diagnose the root cause of electrical issues in the facility.
  • Troubleshoot and test the functionality of process instrumentation; flow meters, level transmitters, level switches, etc.
  • Work with resources to resolve issues as quickly and effectively as possible.
  • Interpret electrical schematics and user manuals.
  • PLC/DCS programming, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Repair electrical and electronic systems including any electromechanical production equipment.
  • Collect PLC input and output data to monitor the efficiency of equipment to assist in the planning of future conversion operations.
  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, and schematics to troubleshoot and maintain process control systems.
  • Complete the necessary documentation to ensure control documentations are correct and follow all necessary control procedures, and update drawings to reflect process improvements and field changes.
  • Assist and consult with the management/engineering on projects as needed.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained.
  • Manage and work with contractors and vendors to monitor and improve efficiency and output.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • 2-year certification from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in Electrical Engineering, Electronics is preferred.
  • At least one year of strong industrial electrical background in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong electronics background is preferred with experience also in 480 volt, 2300 volt, 35k volts, 3-PhaseControls; AB/Rockwell DC Drive; AB/Rockwell PLC’s, Control Logic; Reading Electrical Drawings and Ladder Logic.
  • Experience with variable frequency drives and smart field instruments (i.e. pressure, flow, temperature, level and analytical transmitters, valve positioners, valve actuators and PID controllers) is necessary.
  • Understanding of the working components of PLC/DCS systems.
