Critical Maintenance Engineer
SMS Environmental LtdCritical Maintenance Engineer at SMS Environmental ensuring water systems remain safe and compliant. Conducting maintenance while building client relationships and supporting junior engineers.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on water systems
- Conduct water sampling, flushing, and treatment activities
- Ensure compliance with ACOP L8, HSG274, and water hygiene regulations
- Accurately record all site work using company systems and software
- Identify and report system issues or non-compliances to Account Managers
- Build strong relationships with clients and represent SMS professionally on-site
- Support and mentor junior engineers where required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven experience in water hygiene, water treatment, or Legionella control
- Strong understanding of water hygiene regulations and best practices
- Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively
- Confident communication and client-facing skills
- Awareness of Health & Safety practices (COSHH, risk assessments, etc.)
- Full UK driving licence
- If you’ve worked across sectors like healthcare, education, or commercial environments — even better.
