About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide and lead technical geospatial and data support to SLR’s Practices
  • Support the Practice Lead in delivering geospatial and data solutions in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Design, configure and manage interactive web applications and dashboards in ArcGIS Online
  • Design and deploy scalable GIS strategies reflecting regional variations and international project specifications
  • Capture and analyse data from multiple sources while maintaining high data standards
  • Develop and bug-fix data pipelines, including pipelines using APIs and external sources
  • Liaise with project managers to ensure projects are resourced effectively and remain within budget
  • Engage internal stakeholders to identify portfolio diversification, margin improvement and innovative solution opportunities
  • Support draft proposals for small and medium-sized projects and provide technical input to larger bids
  • Adhere to QA processes and data-management and drawing-output standards
  • Support regional business strategy and cross-selling opportunities
  • Participate in team resource calls, supervision systems and knowledge sharing
  • Deliver projects to tight deadlines
  • Engage with the professional community and contribute to SLR’s One Team culture

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography or a related field
  • SAGC registration will be an advantage
  • 5–10 years’ experience in a consulting environment
  • Strong knowledge of the ESRI ArcGIS stack, including Enterprise
  • Excellent understanding of global coordinate systems and projections
  • Extensive database-management experience
  • Experience leading and delivering GIS projects
  • Web-application experience in ArcGIS Online environments
  • Experience with automation, programming languages and software development, including Python, R, SQL, HTML and JavaScript
  • Understanding of GIS software and open-source platforms such as QGIS, Global Mapper, PostgreSQL and PostGIS
  • Working knowledge of Databricks
  • Experience applying geospatial and data solutions in environmental management and sustainability
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proactive approach to learning and team development
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and stakeholder engagement
  • Interest in mentoring and knowledge sharing
