Lead an internal and public-facing ConOps or white paper initiative.
Support Product and Systems Engineering teams with definition of product roadmap and engineering requirements.
Identify region-specific challenges and opportunities associated with the implementation of third-party traffic management services.
Support the identification of requirements for integrating novel aircraft operations (including Advanced Air Mobility) into diverse airspace environments worldwide.
Lead the development of technical documentation that articulates the role and necessity of ground-based systems in supporting these operations.
Monitor and analyze evolving concepts of operation for Advanced Air Mobility proposed by aviation regulators worldwide.
Work with Product and Systems Engineers to derive and document engineering requirements for a ground-based system that provides traffic management and data services to emerging operations.
Support refinement of SkyGrid’s product strategy based on airspace integration research.
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of human factors and autonomy specialists to support technology development from concept to prototype.
Report to the Airspace Integration Manager within SkyGrid’s Research and Development (R&D) organization.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field + 4 years of applicable work experience, or;
Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field + 2 years of applicable work experience, or;
Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field.
Strong knowledge of aircraft operations and air traffic management.
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts.
Familiarity with future airspace concepts (both domestically and internationally).
Familiarity with industry standards applicable to emerging aircraft operations (e.g., Detect-and-Avoid performance standards).
Familiarity with ICAO’s Global Air Traffic Management Operational Concept (GATMOC) and its Conflict Management framework.
Familiarity with aviation safety principles (e.g., Safety Management Systems, Safety Risk Management) and Development Assurance Levels (DAL).
